IMG 7328Moira was born in Helensburgh and went to college in Aberdeen, specialising in Classroom music, voice and piano. She taught for 2 years in Aberdeen before joining the staff of a British school in Gutersloh West Germany where she taught the children of British forces stationed there. Having spent four years in the British school she then taught in the local German music school for 2 years. On returning to the UK Moira taught at home while her family were small. She then held Head of Music posts in various Essex schools and loved supplementing the music curriculum with orchestras, choirs and jazz bands. Moira pursued her own love of singing as a soloist with many of the local choral societies in Essex and with Country House Opera.

Moira moved back to  Helensburgh during the covid pandemic in 2020. She is now fortunate to have the post of Musical Director of the  Peninsula Choir based at Cove as well as playing for the West of Scotland Military Wives Choir.  She is delighted to have joined LoCCO.

Concert News

The Winter Concert at Victoria Halla was a huge success and played to a full house. We played a new piece of music called The Lewis Chess Suite which was writeen by Julian Ward - one of our flute players and arranged for orchestra by Lorna McLaren. St Michaels Church Choir joined us as did Pippa Reid Foster playing the harp.

LoCCO is very grateful to the SCOPS Art Trust (scopsartstrust.org.uk) for their generous grant towards the costs of preparing for such an exciting concert.
